Technology upgrade of chlorosulfonated polyethylene unit

Technological innovation: On April 28, the only chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) device in China successfully replaced solvents at the Jilin Petrochemical Calcium Carbide Plant, achieving technological upgrades with low carbon, environmental protection, and doubled production. According to Sun Juhua, the project leader, only a few countries in the world, such as the United States, Japan, Russia, and China, have CSM devices, with a global total production capacity of about 75,000 tons. In my country, only the Jilin Petrochemical Company Calcium Carbide Plant has a CSM production device with a production capacity of 3,000 tons. The device uses the technology of the Jilin Petrochemical Company Research Institute and is produced in a solution intermittent process, but the emission of carbon tetrachloride used in the device seriously exceeds the standard. According to the Montreal Protocol, the current carbon tetrachloride quota given by the State Environmental Protection Administration to the Jilin Petrochemical Calcium Carbide Plant is 180 tons, which is far from meeting the needs of full-load production of the device. To this end, the Jilin Petrochemical Research Institute has carried out technical research. Sun Juhua introduced that the Jilin Petrochemical Research Institute had completed the solvent substitution test and simulation test as early as 2006, and passed the acceptance organized by Jilin Petrochemical in January 2007, and was qualified for industrial production. However, due to various reasons, the device did not conduct industrial trial production. With the rising price of chlorosulfonated polyethylene products, strict environmental protection requirements and increased market demand, Jilin Petrochemical carried out an industrial trial of chlorosulfonated polyethylene solvent substitution on the 3,000 tons/year chlorosulfonated polyethylene device of the calcium carbide plant from April 8 to 14 this year to solve the problem of insufficient carbon tetrachloride quota. This test used carbon tetrachloride and chloroform in different mass ratios as mixed solvents, and produced chlorosulfonated polyethylene products with high-density polyethylene as raw material. After 7 days of continuous trial production, a total of nearly 10 tons of qualified chlorosulfonated polyethylene products were produced. All technical indicators of the product met the requirements, and the output doubled on the original basis. It is understood that CSM is made from low-density polyethylene or high-density polyethylene through chlorination and chlorosulfonation reactions. It has excellent physical and mechanical properties, heat and low-temperature resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance, and electrical insulation properties. It is widely used in wires and cables, waterproof membranes, automotive industry and other fields. At present, this product is almost blank in the application of automobiles in my country. With the accelerated localization of auto industry parts, the potential consumption of CSM is huge. Affected by the international financial crisis, DuPont, the world's largest producer of chlorosulfonated polyethylene, decided to stop production, causing the price of chlorosulfonated polyethylene products to soar, and the market is in short supply. Germany successfully developed ultra-fine silicon nano-resonators. Chemical design and drawing software assists digital management. Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute was unveiled at Baling Petrochemical. New polyamide products for fuel contact were launched. German scientists developed a new hydrogen fuel cell catalyst. The application of coal-based olefin by-products in Ningxia received national support.
